I’ve just created a Facebook group for SMC, personally I find Facebook a bit ???? Useless, but lots of people seem to like it, maybe you see more use in it than me. So if you want to waste a load of your time do visit post something, bust a gut.
If you know more than me (should be easy) how to run and what's possible with a Facebook group and you want administrative rights just ask.

Why bother with Facebook, just another way to find new members

No doubt as some of you do know, you need a Facebook account to view Facebook

Would be nice if our SMC people who also have Facebook accounts became ‘friends’ with SMC on Facebook – looks a bit odd when our club only has one member - - me all alone - - - Johnny no mates

Hi i am on the ATC facebook and i think the SMC foram site is as good at letting members have the details they need to get out there and DO IT .
I have even told our group to check out your SMC site and start the same type of foram site ,as it works MEL.

Zasip facebookers -

I'm tempted to suggest not to bother with an SMC facebook group - :temperdwarf:

As Mel says, the website does the job of selling SMC admirably so there's no need for all this facebook rubbish. :rules:

I use facebook occasionally, but come April I believe we will have to pay for the privilege -

I suspect that there may be others out there that are not prepared to pay for it.

As my original post said
Why bother with Facebook, just another way to find new members

the links & text on the info page lead to our website
if people join the group the link shows in your Facebook and so becomes easier to find by others
its just another to make our presence known
if it dies tomorrow - who cares

Personally, I think the more advertising and promotion the club does the better. Members are the lifeblood of the club and we need fresh blood coming through on a regular basis to maintain membership and take it forward. Non of us are getting any younger. Facebook represents just one option to raise the profile and it costs nothing. I would be happy to take over as administrator if Graham wants.

On another note why do we seem to have no information on the club posted at the local climbing walls. We always used to. Maybe we can look at reciprical links with climbing wall websites to the club as well as posters?

Hi Martin

Good, at least one person gets the point
I’ve given you administrator rights you can tweak to your heart’s content
But if you put up any images of scantily clad (female) climbers - do tell

As for advertising at climbing walls; that would be up to the people going to the climbing walls – hint
This reminds me; its committee member season again – another hint Martin

Reciprocating links, that’s ok with me, we have a link to one local club – it’s the Reciprocating bit that’s a problem
